There are 9 vaults inside the Counting House in Baldur’s Gate 3 and you need 9 vault keys to unlock them. We definitely suggest that you don’t miss out on these loots as several of them are part of other quests. There’s a total of 9 vaults that you can open in the game and we’ll show you guys how to grab them and which vault they unlock.
As previously mentioned, there’s a total of 9 Vaults and 9 keys in the Counting House. You can just grab all the keys first before finally unlocking all the loots. Or you can them as you progress in the game.
The first key is with Captain Grisly in the Blushing Mermaid. Use pickpocket to grab the Counting House Vault #1 Key. The loot of Vault No. 1 is a Nymph Cloak, a Spell Savant Amulet, and 40 Gold.
Moving on to the next key, head to Lady Jannath’s Estate and find her. Pickpocket Lady Jannath and then you’ll find the Counting House Vault #2 Key. In addition, you’ll find other precious items in her possession that you can steal while you’re at it.
Use the key to unlock Vault No. 2 which has the Perfumed Days, Passionate Nights book, Jannath’s Hat, a Gold Pendant, a Gold Necklace, a Verdelite Ring, a Gold Ring, and 80 Gold.
The Counting House Vault #3 Key is something that you may have gotten after exploring the Cazador’s Palace. Then, at the end, interact with Cazador Szarr’s coffin to loot the key.
The vault has the Long Arm of the Gur, a Gold Pendant, a Gold Necklace, a Verdelite Ring, a Gold Ring, a Peridot Ring, a Silver Amulet, and 80 Gold.
Next up is the Counting House Vault #4 Key which is inside the chest in Water Queen’s house. Make sure to sneak and use invisibility before going through the double doors to get to the opulent chest. The key unlocks the fourth vault which has four Pearl Necklaces, the Trident of the Waves, and 40 Gold.
For the fifth vault, you can get the Counting House Vault #5 Key from Gortash’s Safe, which is located on the top floor of Wyrm Rock Fortress. To get to the safe, go through the body of Lord Enver Gortash after killing him to get Gortash’s Key.
Then head to the left corner of the room to find this painting of Valley with Brook. Remove the painting and unlock the safe with the key.
Inside the vault, you’ll find a Father’s Diary, the Ravegard’s Scourger, and 80 Gold.
And then, for the Counting House Vault #6 Key, you need to explore the Iron Throne Prison. Jump into this opening in the middle that leads to a lower level.
Then make your way to the upper left corner of the map. It’ll take some jumps, teleports, or dashes, but there’s going to be a chest that you can loot at the end.
The vault contains The Astral Prism Heist book, the To Take Control book, the Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen, the Shield Steward Interrogation Log book, a Gold Ingot, and 225 Gold.
Moving on, the Counting House Vault #7 Key is being kept by Nine Fingers Keene in the Guildhall of Nine Finger Office.
Sneak in and then use invisibility to pickpocket him and grab the key. Or all the keys and knives while you’re at it!
The vault’s loots are a Knock Knuckle Gloves, a Heavy Chest containing toys, and 80 Gold.
To get the Counting House Vault #8 Key, you have to win against Viconia DeVir and then break into the House of Grief.
Remember to check her body to loot Viconia’s Personal Chest Key and other awesome stuff. Grab that key, then go into the Dormitory and find the Jewellery Box on the dresser for the vault key.
Her vault packs quite a lot of items. You’ll get The Patriar Blackmail Files, the Skeletons in Patriar Closets book, an Onyx Ring, a Silver Necklace, an Amethyst Ring, a Silver Band, an Amethyst, a Sapphire, a Diamond, and 40 Gold.
Next up is the key to the 9th vault, the Counting House Vault #9 Key, which is from Rakath who is inside the Counting House. You’ll be able to enter the Vault area in the Counting House which is part of Act 3 with Jaheira.

Don’t forget to be stealthy and pickpocket the key to unlock the final safe which is inside the giant vault. Vault No. 9 has the very rare light armour, Elegant Studded Leather.
