Race was born in International Falls, MN on July 27th, 1993, to Thad and Wendy Johannessohn. Race attended Hibbing High School and graduated in 2012. He was a member of the hockey and tennis teams and loved dirt track racing and dirt biking. Race was awarded the Kappor Scholarship as the student that demonstrated the largest improvement over his senior year.
