One keg was full and Bernard Ercius, longtime Tinley civic booster Bernard Alexander Ercius, a longtime Tinley Park community leader and volunteer, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Ercius was born in 1927 in Chicago.
He was employed at Peoples Gas Chicago, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was. a 35-year resident of Tinley Park Erclus and was honored in 1985 as "Tinley Park Citizen of the Year" by the Jaycees for his many contributions of service to the area. He was commander of American Legion Post 615 from 1963 to 1964 and led the construction of the new, post. He served as president the Bremen Historical Society, Tinley Park, for five years during which the Old Zion Church Landmark was restored and the and Potawatomie Indian museums were established.
He served on Tinley Park's Human Service Commission, Veterans' Commission, Community, Fall Festival Association the Oktoberfest Committee. He coached Little League for many years, aided the Cub Scouts the Aquacenter's swim team; and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; a daughter, Cathy Enstrom Ankeny, Iowa; two sons, Mark of Scottsdale, and Paul of Libertyville; a sister, Frances Grossman; and six grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Mesa.

The legislators said the new law allows a taxing district to continue to sell the non-referendum bonds as long as the property taxes to repay the bonds stay at or below their 1994 level. They said that means the taxes to repay the bonds will not be subject to the property tax caps, but will be subject to the 1994 level. DeAngelis and the others said the new law will not mean that a taxing district will be able to go back to the total bonding authority it had before the property tax caps or that a taxing district will gain any bonding authority at all. the other was half-full, police said.
